A water source will attract all kinds of birds to your yard. The sound of running water is inviting to birds. We placed a small waterfall fountain near the pond. It makes the pond look very nice doesnt it? It does not drain into the pond. The pond itself doesnt have to be large. It should however, have a water fountain inside it (which I turned off for the photo) for airation. We have water turtles in our pond along with gold fish, water frogs, and even some cray fish.
